Updating your app: what happens on its own, what goes through the stores
Content, design, new features, iOS and Android versions: what changes live in an app, what needs a new release, and who takes care of it.

“What if I want to change something after publishing?” It’s a common worry, inherited from the days when every change meant a quote. Today, most changes happen live. Here’s what updates on its own, what goes through the stores, and who takes care of it.
What changes live
Everything that is content is edited from the back office and appears immediately in the app, on the web, iPhone and Android, without going back through Apple or Google:
- Articles, news and introduction pages.
- Products, prices, stock and promotions.
- Events, opening hours and appointment slots.
- Photos, videos and podcasts.
- The order of sections and the content of the home page.
- Notifications, sent or scheduled.
So you can publish as much as you like. A lively app is the best guarantee your customers keep it: see the 30 content ideas.

What goes through the stores
Some elements are part of the app installed on the phone. To change them on iPhone and Android, you send a new version to Apple and Google, who review it:
- The app’s name and icon.
- The launch screen.
- Some new technical features added to the core of the app.
- The store listing: description, screenshots.
On the web app, even these change live. For the stores, submitting takes a click from the back office, then review usually takes a few days. The steps are detailed in publishing on the App Store and Google Play.
iOS and Android updates
Every year, Apple and Google release new versions of their systems. An app that doesn’t keep up ends up displaying badly, then gets removed from the stores. It’s the most common hidden cost of custom-built apps: each new iOS version can mean a quote.
At Maymoune, the app engine is updated continuously and follows new system versions. You have nothing to do and nothing to pay again: it’s included in the subscription.
Who publishes new versions to the stores?
You can do it yourself, in one click. If you have the iPhone and Android apps and prefer not to deal with it, the annual maintenance contract handles publishing them to the stores, at least twelve times a year.
The right rhythm
- Every week: fresh content (an article, a product, an event) and one or two useful notifications.
- Every month: a look at the statistics, and a refreshed home page.
- Every season: a new section or feature, if your customers need it.
- Every year: a refreshed store listing (screenshots and description).
What it costs
At Maymoune, every feature is included in all three plans, detailed on the pricing page:
- Starter, €19 a month: your web app, installed from a link or a QR code.
- Ultra, €59 a month: the same, plus the iPhone, iPad and Android app on the stores.
- Ultra Lifetime, €2,999: one single payment, with publication on the App Store and Google Play included.
